Still Life Tote Bags

"The living wander away, we don't hear from them for months, years—but the dead move in with us to stay." ~G. Keillor. Bones have never bothered me, and I think it's because they were always part of something special: I saw them in art on my mother's desk calendars or I found them in the dense New Hampshire woods which made them seem like little treasures. And now that I'm grown and we grace the walls of our home with skulls and antlers, some hunted and some found, I still see them as something special- a tribute to the wild lives that have nourished us, symbols of friendship and meals shared, reminders of the community of organisms to which we owe much of our livelihood. Which is why I titled this collection Still, Life.
